The airline was formed in 1987 under the name of Flight West.  Flight West Liquidated in 2000 and in 2002, Queensland Airlines Holdings brought Flight West and re-named it Alliance Airlines.

The Airline only operates Townsville-Brisbane and Brisbane-Norfolk Island-Sydney scheduled services at very resonable prices.  It also is a charter airline with winter schedules also doing a Brisbane- Canberra (The Australian Capital City) and the Australian Defence Force/Army uses Alliance for charter flights to East Timor and the Solomon Islands.
